There’s not much else going on at this time of year. As the nights draw in and the famous Manchester weather limbers up for the winter, we wanted to bring a bit of sunshine into our 18th floor office in MediaCity.

Normally, the interview process can take weeks and sometimes months, however our creative team were so impressed with Gary’s fantastic portfolio and lovely, warm attitude that he was hired within a week of his interview! So we thought we’d find out a bit more and introduce the new member of our Upp family…
What made you want to get into graphic design?
Probably album covers or club flyer design when I was younger, I always wanted to recreate them. The Cream logo by Farrow London was the first logo that made me love visual identity design.
Who would play you in the movie of your life?
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?
Thai Green Curry.

My hidden talent is so perfectly hidden that haven’t found it yet…

Think and Grow Rich – Napoleon Hill (…i’m still waiting to be rich)
Where did you grow up?
West Belfast, right at the foot of the Black Mountain.
If your life had a theme song what would it be?
What’s your favourite thing about your job?
Creating brand identities. The different range of clients and briefs I work across, never knowing what the next project will be makes it exciting.
What’s your proudest work achievement?
Winning a D&AD New Blood Graphite Pencil Award.
